Personal Statement
My background in urban design has enabled me to secure design projects with Architecture and Design Scotland, Stirling City Council, ISIS waterways and Strathclyde University. These projects have varied from research publications, design proposals, event documentation, branding proposals and town assessment studies. In my current role I am responsible for all aspects of design projects from concept to production. Being self employed has allowed me to work on a wide variety of projects and gain considerable design and print experience. I am use to working to brief and developing ideas from scratch. I have produced two urban design based books, which featured in an exhibition in Scottish Parliament earlier this year. On a day to day basis I use Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCad, SketchUp and I am constantly striving to learn and expand my skill base. I am a passionate graphic designer with a speciality inurban design representation, landscape design + architecture. Highly driven with exceptional organisational skills, friendly nature and hard working approach I easily integrate into any workplace.

Career History
Present; Commissioned Project - Branding Package for New Housing Development in Scotland
Currently I am working on a branding package for a new housing development in Scotland. This includes brand identity, logo design, web concept, construction hoarding and billboard design along with a complete branding guideline document.
I have developed 5 proposals which are shortly to be viewed by a community group to decide the on the final design. In this role I was required to communicate directly with the client and keep an exceptionally organised file base. Key skills include; excellent communication skills, ability to work to brief, self motivation, strong design skills in a variety of media, time management, an eye for detail and a desire to achieve perfection.
Sep 2010 - January 2009; Administrator/Assistant Administrator [various temporary posts] Northumbria University [temp agency - NRG]
To supplement my design work I have worked in various roles at Northumbria University over the past year and a half. During this time I have gained valuable experience as an administrator and built a strong organisational skill se
to compliment my design background. In my most recent role as Programme Administrator I was responsible for the administration of 12 undergraduate programs. This role has given me many transferable skills, including an understanding of how a large public sector institution runs. Key skills include: Working in a team, organisation skills, time management, co-ordinating and preparing data, reports and statistics. Maintenance of manual and computerised record systems.
Feb 2010- Sep 2009; Architecture & Design Scotland - Various Commissioned Projects, including; R e g i o n a l A s s e t M a p p i n g E x e r c i s e f o r I n v e r c l y d e - Locating and mapping council owned assets throughout the Inverclyde area and identifying opportunities to develop or consolidate services to promote a sustainable future. Presenting this mass of information in a graphically aesthetic format to be presented to Inverclyde Council P o r t G l a s g o w T o w n C e n t r e S t u d y - Assessing existing facilities located within the town centre and identifying regeneration areas. Presenting this as part of a sustainable design framework promoting place making at town and street scale. L i b r a r y o f U r b a n D e s i g n O n l i n e - Creation and management of a large data-base of web sites related to urban design. This will form part of the new Architecture and Design Scotland website due to be launched later this year. October 2009 - Feb 2009; Strathclyde University - Research Assistant
A 6mth post to research and produce a book on trends in small Scottish towns today. The role was both self driven and collaborative involving substantial research into the historic development of 20 small towns in Scotland and analysing these `under the microscope'. This is a graphic based publication, I was responsible for all content, layout, graphic style, formatting, proofing and printing. `Under the microscope, 20 Small Scottish towns' along with my dissertation project `An Comann' formed part of an exhibition at Scottish Parliament earlier this year. Key skills include; graphic illustration, compilation of information into publication format, analysis of statistics, detailed research ability, strong analysis skills.
Sep 2009 ¬ June 2009; Strathclyde University/Architecture and Design Scotland - Stirling City Visioning Team Member
As a research assistant I was also involved with the Inverness and Stirling City vision projects facilitated by A&DS. This was run in collaboration with local councils and involved introducing urban design skills to planners/councillors to achieve realistic future visions for the respective cities. The visioning team ran various sessions over 3 months with the local council, business people and community members to develop a vision for Stirling in 2030. Dec 2008 - September 2005; ROK ¬ Customer Liaison
My role at ROK was to provide a support base for 11 depots within Scotland, North East and the North West. This required me to maintain up to date knowledge in an ever changing business, provide advice with procedures ensuring correct execution, and to analyse data, providing feedback to the different business streams. Throughout my time at Rok I was responsible for managing my own workload and meeting deadlines. It required me to build strong relationships with both clients and customers. This role allowed me to gain many transferable skills that I have brought into my professional career. Key skills include; investigating and responding to high level complaints in line with company guidelines, developing a solid foundation knowledge of the building maintenance industry, providing training for staff members in complaints handling and assessing claims for compensation.
