Roving Underwriter
As a Roving Underwriter I am based at Entertprise Homeloans and often help the KMC underwriter at The Mortgage Times. Here I am responsible for looking after all the needs of the packager and their satellites. I fully underwrite the case, explain exactly what will be needed to get it to offer or product the offer all onsite. I also deal with post offer queries and liaise between the completions team in head office and the completions team of the packager to ensure most cases go to legal completion. I am also responsible for maintaining and furthering the relationship between KMC and the packager.
Other duties include reporting to both KMC and the packager the level and standard of business received; ad hoc system testing in UAT and assisting other underwriters in the team if necessary. Monthly training to new satellite packagers, this includes presenting information about KMC’s product and criteria to those new to the lender.

Roving Underwriter
I had three roles within my time at Beacon, I was initially employed as a Completions Officer, however I was swiftly promoted to Underwriter. My employment began prior to the official launch of the lender and as such a lot this time was devoted to testing the operations system ready for launch to ensure its effectiveness and compliancy with FSA regulations. General underwriting duties were undertaken along with continued system testing and the training of new employees.
I was then promoted to Roving Underwriter, my duties were expanded to include reporting on business levels, maintaining and developing the lender’s relationship with the packager and dealing with all queries in the packager’s office.

Mortgage Underwriter
This role included placing all leads with the correct lender, seeing the case through to completion and also managing clients mortgage interests, e.g. advising the client on when to remortgage, buildings and contents insurance, life insurance etc. As a sourcing aid I used both Trigold and Mortgage Brain, these were also used to produce compliance documents.

I was responsible for cases from receiving the Certificate on Title through to completion. This included dealing with correspondence from the solicitor, client, packager/broker, checking details of the offer and re-offering if necessary, taking calls from all parties.
I later helped to evolve a new product. This product eliminated the use of external solicitors, leaving the conveyancing work to be carried out by myself. This role called for high accuracy as I was dealing with legal documents.
