Architectural Technologist / Assistant Project Manager Company: IDPartnership Architects, Chartered Architects and Project managers based in Coventry, West Midlands. www.idpartnership.com I joined IDPartnership in January 2007 to work as an Architectural Technician and broaden my knowledge of the construction industry. In this role I was involved in the technical processes and application of projects ranging in from £25,000 to £25m in value; covering residential, heath, education and commercial sectors. For the time I have been with the company I have taken on a high level of key responsibilities. Some of the larger projects in which I am responsible for are as follows: `The Mint' 215 Unit residential development, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham ¬ Grade II listed buildings, £26m value. The Hockley Medical Practice, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham £1m Fit out (BREEAM `Very Good' status) `Coombe Abbey' ¬ 80 Bedroom hotel block - Grade II listed. Complete `Medical Assessment Unit', City Hospital, Birmingham ¬ £2m Clinical refurb `Camp Hill' Urban Regeneration ¬ `Phase 1'. 138 units of an 850 unit masterplan to regenerate the Camp Hill Area of Nuneaton. At present, reporting to the senior Project Manager/Partner; I am an integral part of the design & management team and more recently have been appointed to head the technical team for the Healthcare department within the company (managing an average team of 4 Arch. technicians). I have the responsibility of approximately 10-15 small works projects in my care at any one time, each at different stages of design & construction. This role has enabled me to practice more of a Project Managers roll, team leading & management, financial reporting to clients, professional fee coordination, client liaison, risk analysis, lead consultancy and implementing recognized contract administration procedures throughout all projects. It has also provided me with valuable time management experience, as I am often juggling numerous deadlines/time constraints at any one time.

Achievements
 
I have many projects I have worked on which I am very proud of (Details of all can be provided upon request), ranging from multimillion pound Commercial/residential projects to highly complex healthcare jobs. I feel however, my biggest achievement is my capabilities being recognized for the work I carry out on a day to day basis and the responsibilities ive been given in return. I have also recently earned professional accreditation from the Chartered Institute ofArchitectural Technologist and currently hold a professionally qualified persons CSCS status. I feel I am a key member of staff within my current employment and am currently looking to further my success at the next professional level.

Technical CAD Coordinator Evaluation Ltd, Ryton¬on-Dunsmore, Coventry
 
Evaluation Ltd is a design consultancy company based near Coventry that specialises in the design and co-ordination of assessing, surveying and design work mainly for telecommunication industry around the UK. My role involved surveying telecommunication sites, and translating my findings into detailed technical CAD drawings for planning, Tender and construction. I coordinated designs with other professionals, liaised with contractors and provided detailed design drawings that were used to submit for planning approval, issue tender documentation and dealt with on site construction issues. I then surveyed site and produced `as built drawings' used for record purposes post build completion. The position I held was primarily telecommunication-based design but I also got involved in architectural renovation and design where required.
 
Achievements
 
Whilst in this position, along with attending university; I confirmed my passion for architectural design and wish to focus my career in the Architectural/Construction industry. I learnt an invaluable amount with regards to what information is required and conveyed in professional construction drawings & how projects are carried out; I started this role with minimal knowledge of the industry and left with a sound understanding of requirements of professional drawings and draughtsmanship and an appreciation for project coordination/management.
 
May 04- October 05 Role Summary
 
Project Co-ordinator / Systems designer Lightmaster Direct Ltd, Shipston on Stour,   Lightmaster Direct is a lighting design consultancy firm that design, supply and install dynamic lighting designs, automated control systems, home integration systems and multiroom audio systems to large residential properties throughout the Cotswolds for high profile clients. Within this role I was primarily involved in the residential design department; responsible for designing and specifying home integration and lighting control systems into new build & renovation developments from client conception to physical completion.
 
Achievements
 
I was responsible for making sure multiple projects progressed smoothly, supplying all relevant CAD drawings, system specifications and associated information, and general instruction to electrical contractors, project managers,architects and other professionals within the industry. I worked closely with senior lighting and interior designers and computerised designs using AutoCAD 2005/Lt. This role provided me with an insight into the construction industry and gave me the passion to focus my career within the Architectural and construction industry.

Description: This phased project involved relocating office premises for a 40-strong business in Coventry City centre. Once the company moved premises, considerable renovation and extension works were carried out to provide a brand new entrance foyer, meeting rooms, toilets and client entertainment areas. Reporting to the premises owners/Equity partners, I was responsible for complete Project Management; managing the project from conception to completion; delivering on time and within budget. The Mint, The Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham: 192 Unit Residential development
 
Client: Junared Two Ltd Sector : Residential/ Commercial Cost: £25m Contractor : Ninex Ltd Completion: On Hold ( 70% Complete)
 
Description: The development comprises some 192 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments and over 6400 m2 of commercial business space. The challenging site includes grade 1 & 2 listed buildings from the original old `Mint' factory, a 30m high Victorian chimney Archaeology constraints and new proposed basement parking . The design has been developed as a contemporary interpretation of the rich vernacular of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter Conservation area in which the site lies. The design creates a new Jewellery Quarter back street and uses echo's of previous Victorian structures to form a system urban buildings with a dense `urban grain'.

Description: The development comprises some 147, 1,2 & 3 bedroom apartments and a Primary Healthcare centre with basement parking. The design has been developed as a contemporary interpretation of the rich vernacular of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter conservation Area in which the site lies. A system of attractive hard landscaped courtyard gardens have been created amongst building reflecting the dense urban grain of conservation area.

Coombe Abbey Hotel, Coventry: New build bedroom block to Grade I Hotel

Description: We were responsible for building a new bedroom block to the hotel on the site of the existing Residents' car park to the North of the Grade I listed Coombe Abbey Hotel. Adhering to many planning/ listed building constraints, the development was a success providing a further 26 bedrooms to the existing adjacent hotel. I was involved at construction stage, producing working drawings & details etc.

Description: IDPartnership were the executive architects for this award winning project in Birmingham. This development comprised 100 luxury concierge serviced apartments and associated office suite at the junction of two canals.

Description: The Heart of Birmingham Primary Care NHS Trust have commissioned us to provide a GP Surgery / Medical centre into the ground floor commercial accommodation. The fit out project is currently being built at the same time as the adjacent residential development works and is valued at circa £1m. There has been extensive operational interface from end users throughout the design stage. I have had a rounded involvement with this project, but most notably I have carried out design and tendering administration duties. The project has also been designed to achieve Breeam `Very Good' status.
