Design Manager and Senior Project Architect 2005 - Present 
 
Current Project - Electric Car Battery Manufacture Facility 
Design Manager and Architect for 7000m2 of ISO class 6 and class 7 clean room with ultra low humidity (-20 to -40 dew point) within larger new facility, to be used for the manufacture of batteries for new model of electric car. Design of Mechanical, Electrical, Process and Architectural elements are being undertaken in house, management of full 3D coordinated CAD model for all elements of the works. 
 
Current Project - 18MW Waste to Energy Power Station 
Design Management of Commercial power station in London producing energy from chopped domestic waste using gasification technology. Currently in design phase of the project. 
 
Project Orion Laser Facility for Atomic Weapons Establishment 
£60m research facility for the AWE, Reporting to Project Director and Company Architect, responsible for delivery ofarchitectural elements, and the latter stages of the design management. Involved in all aspects of this highly complex project, some aspects of the project worth particular note include the following:- 
16 varying sized clean rooms (some up to 16m high) with classifications between Class 5 and Class 7. 
Design and integration of Electro Magnetic Pulse and Radiation Shielding in conjunction with specialist. 
Design of blast resistant environments. 
Anti Vibration structure and its attendant issues. 
Author of several reports for Nuclear Safety Case, plus work on HAZOP / HAZID and the Safety Case generally. 
Design of passive fire measures in the building under the Crown Fire Standards. 
Full 3D building model used for the project for coordination of building services and user equipment. 
 
Babraham Research Building B730 Design Manager 
£18m research facility for the Babraham Research Institute, Medical Research Containment Laboratories. Reporting to Project Director and Company Architect, responsible for:- 
Delivering valued engineering savings during the bid stage of the project, 
Ensuring that base line design fully established, 
Formulation and delivery of the contractors proposals 
Writing Design management plan including the following:- 
Defining Roles and Responsibilities for all Designers. 
Production of Deliverables Schedules for all Designers. 
Set up and operated Earned Value reporting for designers which had significant benefits for ensuring design was delivered to programme. 
 
Atkins Senior Project Architect 2003 - 2005 
Swindon Police PFI
£18m, reporting to director / regional director, responsible for up to 10 Architectural staff and up to 25 staff across all disciplines. 
New build PFI project providing new police offices and custody suite, together with associated service buildings and parking. 
Detailed project close out report highlighted areas where changes in working methods and new technology could have significant effect on earned value and profit margins, for future Atkins projects. 
Successfully united a fractured and disheartened team to move towards a common goal with the pressure of tight deadlines. 
Introduced a new method of change control to Atkins that has proved successful, and is now being used on other projects. 
 
Medway Area Police HQ 
Value £20m, reporting to director, responsible for up to 8 staff across all disciplines. 
New build PFI project providing new police offices and custody suite, together with associated service building and parking, 
Successfully ran multi disciplinary design team, leading to signing of PFI contracts. 
Implemented a new method of design information control. 
Provided detailed handover information including project risk analysis, information required schedules, and schedule of key outputs for next phase of the project. 
 
Atkins Walters Webster Project Architect 2003 - 2003 
Various residential, commercial & mixed use projects up to £11m reporting to director. 
 
Pearce Group Architects Project Architect / Design Manager 2000 - 2003 
Project IMEL Demokritos Athens 
Value £10 million, reporting to company architect. 
University research facility for micro electronics, silicon wafer production. 
Integration of a complex process with architecture / structures / building services design. 
Produced design to local regulations and planning requirements through regular contact with the British embassy in Athens. 
 
Project Ministry of Defence DLO AndoverValue £40 million, site based quality control, reporting to company architect. 
Operated site based quality management program, in order to defining the quality standard for the project. 
Developed close working relationship with the contractors in order to maintain the quality of the project without compromising the project deadlines. 
Conducted extensive defects / snagging inspection to set the baseline for the project quality.

Value £19 million, reporting to company Architect, responsible for up to 6 staff. 
Refurbishment of old MI6 building converted to 164 apartments in Central London, including multi million pound penthouses. 
Worked on site to assist the construction team by reducing the time for them to complete the learning curve for the project, and resolve issues as they arose, this also helped maintain program momentum. 
Successfully navigated through the contractual and liability issues associated with this type of project; particularly when two separate firms of architects are retained on the same project. 
Provided high quality production information to tight deadlines, through rigorous checking and authorisation regime. 
 
Project Queens College Chambers. 
Value £11 million, reporting to company architect, responsible for up to 4 staff. 
Conversion of existing 1970 office building, Victorian Naval College (grade II listed building) and 1980's office building into 120 apartments, in central Birmingham. 
Delivered all aspects of the project design, including management of designing subcontractors, and other consultants. (Design Manager for the project). 
Successfully navigated the issues associated with taking over a project part way through, including establishing a good reputation with the client and contractor. 
Provided rapid turnaround on queries / design issues as they arose, through close working relationship with the construction team and regular site attendance.
