Career objective
Looking for a challenging position of the Receptionist Administrative Assistant Resume the reputed University with a view to use my wide experience for the benefit of the organization.
Personal Description
I am a friendly, warm and professional individual with a strong work ethic and a good sense of humour, who finds it easy to get along with people and build positive working relationships. I understand the importance of working both in a team and working individually on my own iniative. I am an excellent communicator, both verbally and via the written word.
I currently work as a Care Assistant for elderly people with Dementia, a job I undertook whilst studying for a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. My previous six years employment as an Administrative Officer for the Prison Service highlights both my administrative and IT skills, as well as my understanding of the importance of confidentiality and handling sensitive information. Having taken notes in several meetings, I am confident at minute taking and producing a high quality of work to meet strict deadlines. These aforementioned roles demonstrate, I hope, my ability to adapt and excel in greatly differing working environments.
I enjoyed the fast paced and challenging environment of the Prison Service very much, receiving a personal letter from the Prison Governor on one occasion thanking me for my professionalism in assisting with minute taking in the Command Suite during a high profile security incident. I left the Prison Service after six years in post to take a gap year to travel throughout Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, fulfilling a desire to see some of the world and experience living in cultures differing to our own. On my return, I enrolled in evening classes at Nescot College to qualify as an Early Years Practitioner, wishing to widen my horizons and try a career outside of the office environment. However, as afore mentioned, having completed college and having undertook both paid and voluntary work placements to gain experience in this field, I have decided that this is not the career path I wish to pursue, and I am seeking a return to administrativebased employment.
I have had previous experience of reception based roles, and am very confident in my ability to fulfil such a role, having been employed in temporary roles on my immediate return from travelling.
Hobbies and Interests
My interests are predominantly travelling, having taken a gap year in 2007 and travelled throughout Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, theatre and cinema, eating out and general socialising with friends and family. I enjoy learning new skills and new challenges, with previous hobbies including skydiving and scuba diving.
Qualifications
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education - September 2008- June 2010
I attended evening classes at college two evenings a week to gain this qualification which is equivalent to four A levels, as well as undertaking voluntary work placements in relevant settings, including both a private day nursery and a primary school reception class, to gain experience. However I feel that, having gained the qualification, it is not the career path I wish to pursue.

Position Care Worker
Whilst completing my studies, I have worked as a Care Worker at the afore mentioned Care Centre. My role is that of caring for elderly people with many differing aspects of Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease, with my duties ranging from all aspects of personal care to planning and escorting residents on trips out and engaging in activities. Although an often pressured role, it is a role I have enjoyed and excelled in, and I believe demonstrates my ability to work with and get on with a wide spectrum of people, highlighting my communication skills, patience and ability to cope in occasionally distressing situations.
Rosehill Nursery - September 2008 - June 2009
I originally began voluntary work here as a Student, and was quickly offered employment as a Nursery Nurse, with my responsibility then being heightened as I was then offered the role of a Special Needs Support Worker, meaning I was responsible for the care and education of a child with Downs Syndrome. Aside from normal Nursery Nurse duties, in my role I also liaised with and attended regular meetings with the child's Speech Therapist and parents.
I have also worked voluntarily as a Primary School reception class Nursery Nurse, at Dorchester Primary School in Worcester Park, between June 2009 and September 2009.

I began work here as an Administrative Officer in the Custody department, where my position was that of Releases Clerk. I was responsible for collating all paperwork relating to prisoners who were due to be released either at the end of their sentence or on temporary home leave. I also arranged all Court appearances, liaising with many external agencies ranging from the Probation Services, the Police, Child Protection Officers and the Courts. This role demonstrated my ability to keep to tight deadlines, my communication skills and that of working in a team.
After three years in the afore mentioned role, I then took the opportunity to transfer to the Finance Department, where I was appointed Prisoner's Monies Clerk, a position I held for a further three years. In this role I was responsible for all incoming and outgoing financial transactions relating to prisoner's accounts, ranging from money they were paid by the Prison Service for their respective jobs inside the Establishment, to money they were sent in by external agencies. I was also responsible for placing prisoner's shopping orders and sending the required payment, with companies such as Argos, Avon and the prison's private canteen.
