Architect / project Director

Architect with 11-20 years' experience as job runner, project manager on medium sized contracts, to completion on site. Managed on site team in public sector, such as Interserve Defence Limited, for the RAF, and in local authority. Worked in commercial and private sector within structured team of people, in various roles.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

INTERSERVE-DEFENCE LIMITED, Royal Air Force Station Halton, Bucks 2008 - 2009

Project Manager, Minor New Works

Job co-ordinator on site from inception to completion on Ministry of Defence large and small infrastructure projects (£5K to £5M). I managed procurement and job scheduling, under RIBA stages A-H. I carried out site inspections of the main contractor, ensuring benchmarks for progress and compliance with appropriate programmes and regulatory boards. I was responsible for communication between the client, designers, and contractors and carried out site meetings and progress reports to the management board and the clients. And I was acting as the CDMc health and safety site representative for the principal contractor, where I carried out regular site audits and kept the She plan in order, dealing with asbestos risks, ppe, and other health and safety issues related to specific projects as determined on a military site. I liaised with the principal contractor regarding ongoing design work and organized health and safety aspects of design work in cooperation with others involved with the project. I carried out works to upgrade various buildings over the entire site, including ancillary facilities, grade 2 listed barrack blocks, mess buildings, gymnasia, sports facilities, external works, and in connection with all necessary building regulations and licenses. Project manager on works to repair and decorate Grade 2 country mansion, which was used as the officers' mess, and other grounds works in preparation.
I was not carrying out autocad design work during this job, but would bring up drawings on Autocad for representation and outline cost purposes, to prepare preliminary client briefing and to brief the designers. I was helpful in that I was able to assist the designers in realising a higher standard of delivery, but was not actually allowed in my capacity as projectmanager to carry out the design myself, as the company was set up as a facilities management company who employed designers and consultants to advise on these details. However, I did work with RBC on site, to realise details in their scope of work, along with MacAndrew, and Hulme Upright and Manning, and they were involved early on in the discussions with the end user and the client to realize the scheme design. This role which I fulfilled for 18 months, utilised my job architect skills, and site running skills to the best of my practical abilities.

I proactively applied interior design principles, in the small offices upgrade for Kennedy Galton genetics research, and the Psychology Unit, and the Pharmacy, applying the use of colour and finishes in accordance with the stakeholders' requirements to create a better environment, which was happier, and more in tune with modern requirements.
