CAREER BACKGROUND

Since January 2004 until march 2006, I have worked as a Manager in The Moorings Nursing Home which is an E.M.I Home for 39 service users with dementia. I was the general care manager in charge of about 75 staff.
I joined the Nursing Home in January 2004. I was responsible to the Director of the Home.We had a very good working relationship and we fostered excellent rapport with the various multi-disciplinary teams of Health and Social Care professional Agencies.
I believe that because of my personal specification, qualifications and relevant experience ( see above ), I have been able to manage efficiently and proficiently that nursing home. I have now more than 30 years of nursing experience in both the NHS and the Private Sector with special care management knowledge and skills for the specific particular Service User Groups for Older People,
Mental Health, Learning Disability, Secure Units, Challenging Behaviours and acute units ; as well, also in the field of Learning Disabilities. With all my nursing based knowledge and learning experiences, I hope to be able to apply all these skills in my management plans and developments
I also had budgetary control and marketing skills experience and I intend to implement quality management systems to further develop and improve care programme "Processes" with the ' structure-process- outcome ' agenda.

v To be responsible for the health and social care needs of all service users within the establishment.
v To be responsible for the effective management of the facilities services within the establishment.
v To maintain maximum occupancy levels, with the appropriate fee structures, in accordance to company policy.

My other nursing experiences are as follows :
From March 2003 to December 2004, I worked as a registered Nurse in a Bupa Nursing Home (The Mallards NursingHome). This was an E.M.I unit for 39 service users and I provided care to an 'Older People with Dementia' population.
From January 2003 to march 2003, I worked as an Agency (RNM) registered nurse in various NHS Mental Health Units and other Private Sector Nursing Care Homes.
I worked as an RMN agency registered nurse in the Linden Centre, Drake house, J6 ward, The Priory Hospital and in all the associated Mental Health units in the North Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
That Trust care provision in Mental health covers a wild spectrum of psychiatric specialities which comprise of
a 24 Hour Access unit, 2 acute units, a medium secure unit and 2 ' Care of the Elderly' units ( Drake House and J6 wards ) .
In March 2003, I left Bridge Hospital due to Dissolution of The New Possibilities NHS Trust. Until the closure of the Hospital in march 2003, I have worked as a Deputy Charge Nurse at F Grade. I was a senior nurse practitioner. I worked and was involved in most of the various wards and departments, providing services to clients ( between 27 to 95 years ) with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health needs and challenging behaviours, psycho-organic disorders, Downs Syndrome, epilepsy, parkinsonism, autism, physical, mental, sensory, visual and cognitive impairments, alzheimers and other forms of severe dementia. I had gained vast amount of experience and knowledge-based learning to bridge the gap between theory and practice. I contributed to create a more conductive environment for adaptation to new learning and development for both staff and students.
In 1979, I qualified as an RNMH nurse and worked as a registered nurse until I became a deputy charge nurse in 1983.
I started my registered nursing course in January 1976. Before that, from January 1974 to december 1975, I was doing a Teachers Training Course ( a 2 years course) at The Teachers Training College in Mauritius Island.

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
My interests are mainly keeping in touch with all new developments in my work practice. I like to read work- related literatures, either nursing or the care service magazines and monthly issues.
My hobbies are gardening, going for walks, and going to the local cinema to watch a film. I like to cook as well and watch football on the television.

Summary of my professional nursing skills and qualities
I have now worked and expanded my experience, knowledge and expertise in the nursing fields of Learning Disabilities and Mental Health for more than 30 years now. Throughout all these years, I have accumulated a fairly good degree of experiential learning and reflective practice in the delivery of effective and efficient care to People with Learning Disabilities, Challenging Behaviours, Mental Health needs and with Older People with Dementia.
All of the courses have intensively expanded my experiential learning and nursing practices and have immensely contributed for me to gain more insights and perspectives to care for and support those clients with individual nursingneeds.

I believe that I am ,and I always endeavour to be professional, reliable, dependable, honest and conscientious.I am also assertive, tactful, and considerate.
I like to think that others consider me to be a pleasant, kind, caring and an understanding human being , first , then as a similar likewise person for a colleague or a carer. During the course of my work commitments and time managements, I hope realistically to be motivated at all times , autonomous and using my own initiatives and I desire and aspire to achieve daily job satisfactions in real terms. I am always punctual, consciencious in my job, highly organised with good time management and planning and I believe that quality care is the ultimate outcome to be expected from any qualified nursing and professional nurse.
