Main responsibilities
Initially joined Bulldog as Voice Operations Manager, but combined this with the 24X7 NOC centre to become the Access NOC Manager. Involved in the implementation of ITIL practices to the Operational teams and maintaining high standards of Customer Service.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing a team for 24x7 monitoring & diagnostics of the LLU Voice & Broadband Network
Vendor management for all Operational activities / issues
Ownership of Broadband Network related tickets affecting major CW Customer base

European NOC Manager
 
Main responsibilities
The first role upon joining Esprit was UK Operations Manager within the companies pan-European Voice Network, transferred in 2001 to manage the European NOC based out of Reading. Responsibilities were to manage the NMC monitoring team, Datafill & Traffic Management functions for all European locations and combine this into a single NOC.
Key responsibilities included:
 
Managing staff across 3 locations for centralised functions
Maintaining optimum Network resilience at all times through alarm surveillance and alarm clearance
Ensuring appropriate routing changes are made on the Network
Overseeing the Work Order process involved in implementing Network changes (ceases / provides / expansions etc.)
Provide detailed weekly reports to Upper Management
Ensuring new skills and equipment are introduced in a controlled manner (e.g. traffic management / transmission monitoring etc.)
Setting up and maintaining a 24x7 shift rota
Introducing a Customer Helpdesk section within the 24x7 centre
Implementing a training matrix to assist staff development and ensure adequate skills are in place at all times
Attending meetings and perform Network tours to both internal & external customers
Initiating Event Reports for serious actions affecting the Network
Liaise with relevant vendors to maintain appropriate support.
Prepare and arrange for required software upgrades to be performed when appropriate (low traffic periods)
Build close relationships with the Help Desk and sales staff to offer technical assistance where required

MTX Senior Engineer
 
 
Main responsibilities
Joined Vodafone as an MTX Engineer working within the 24x7 NMC at Brentford. Promoted to MTX Senior Engineer and worked across a combination of day shifts aswell as the 24x7 rota. The role involved organising a team of 8 engineers between 2 sites to ensure correct prioritisation and completion of tasks such as routine maintenance, fault clearance and Network expansions. Relevant staff training and appraisals were required to ensure staff progression was made and a better functioning team unit created.
 
On a technical nature I was responsible for implementing any required software patches onto the Ericsson AXE10 switches, meaning working overnight in order to ensure appropriate risk factors were accounted for. This could involve liaison with Ericsson support staff and a detailed knowledge of the Ericsson AXE set-up & design.

Main responsibilities
Initial duties involved operation and maintenance of Strowger ATE’s, resolving customer lines & Trunks to the BT tandemNetwork. After a period of time performing this role I transferred to the centralised Data Operations team working on the newer Digital exchanges and spent time working on both the GPT System X exchange types and the Ericsson AXE10 switches.
