Sept 08 - ongoing Senior Business and Economic Analyst Yorkshire Forward – Business led Regional Development Agency 
 
Employed by Yorkshire Forward to identify and implement solutions to support business/strategic planning and project-manage policy work. I appraise, and provide project management advice on, business investment projects and build relationships with key stakeholders to influence decision making. The job also entails working as a corporate trouble shooter responsible for high quality pieces of analysis & action plans within a short turnaround time. Key achievements include:
 
Project managed a major piece of work for the Chancellor of the Exchequer which informed policy decisions announced within the annual Budget. This involved sourcing and negotiating consultancy contracts; building relationships across different development agencies/Government/senior Board members; undertaking analysis and research and organising and preparing papers for meetings. 
Working within a team, led pieces of work to restructure the agency’s Corporate Plan, using Prince 2 methodologies, the outcome of which focused the Agency’s core activities on the challenges of the recession. 
Developed a business case to market the region’s low carbon economy which led to the designation of special economic status for Yorkshire.
Provided advice, undertook research, and supported the development of a business plan for a private sector businessstart-up seeking finance for their expansion plans. 
Restructured and refined a stalled ~20m business support project. The work transformed the business case enabling the project to successfully secure investment. 
Working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive, and Executive Directors, built strong relationships with Government which have proved instrumental in enabling the Agency to gain traction on key issues such as the Budget and economic policy.

Employed within the multidisciplinary ‘Development Department,’ I project managed the  )Financial Inclusion Strategy, an award winning strategy which successfully increased access to affordable banking services for  ’ residents. I also undertook economic/business analysis to support project/strategy development and led work on key economic publications. 
 
Responsible for project management, research and report writing, bid writing, and relationship building to develop new opportunities and raise the profile of  ’ Financial Inclusion Project.
Provided the market analysis and strategic planning for   City Council’s Economic Development Strategy and modelled the cost of a living wage in  for City Council’s finance directorate.
Responsible for the production of research and analysis to guide the management of a ~15m programme to boost enterprise in  which has successfully increased business start-ups.

Jan 06 – Jul 06 Project Manager - Internship Peace Child Sierra-Leone
 
Employed as an intern for Peace Child Sierra Leone to project manage development projects, develop and write bids for project funding, and build relationships with key stakeholder to raise the awareness of development in post conflict Sierra Leone. 
 
Project managed a United Nations sponsored HIV/AIDs sensitisation project across Freetown and developed and implemented a marketing strategy to raise project awareness. 
Led the development of an investment proposal on ‘Civic Engagement in the Democratic Process’ which secured funding from the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, only the second contract that the NGO had ever successfully won from the international donor community.
Built relationships between other civil society groups and the international donor community such as with the Government of Sierra Leone and the European Union.

Initially employed in a customer service capacity at the front end of retail banking to answer customer account enquiries, provide advice to customers on Yorkshire Bank’s products, and react to sales opportunities. Subsequently promoted to Group Head Office to work in Business Lending Services providing customer service advice through the businesslending process and ensuring the swift draw down of business loans.

Between August 1996 and August 1999 pursued a career as an assistant Golf Professional. As well as teaching golf, this work involved running the professional job, including buying and selling equipment and apparel.
