I have an ambition to

October 2006 to February 2007
General Manager
Salary: £35,000 per annum
The Silverbirch Hotel is a 40 Bedroom Hotel with Two Function Suites and a Newly Completed Business Centre containing four conference rooms and Two Board rooms. I joined the Hotel to take the role of GM, I settled in well and brought the hotel up to date reference HR procedures, Staff Handbook and Health and Safety
policies. This family run hotel has a high volume restaurant (up to 300+ covers per night) function suites and high occupancy level with the assistant of Internet agencies and direct selling. I ended my employment due to 4 family members involvement in the running of the hotel and I believe it is very confusing to all the other managers and staff and without clear guidelines as to what they all wanted I could not provide them with the level service I usually give my employer.

My role has developed from Assistant Manager to Sales & Commercial Director in a very short time. I managed to achieve very high revenue from extra sales in all areas, promoting the restaurant as a single entity, starting the Internet sales service and setting up the online booking facility. Setup a new sales office with three staff to promote & administer the volume of business. This has been a very rewarding position and one I have enjoyed immensely. I resigned my

Interests
I have a wide range of interests and never seem to get bored travelling to various parts of the world, to be able to experience different cultures and gain an insight as to how people live is one of my favourite hobbies. I also read many books particularly biographies and non-fiction and off course travel journals. Living in the New Forest gave me the opportunity to gain an interest in walking and architecture, which have now developed into hobbies, together with the Internet and eating good food. I also have a passion for classic cars and when time permits, I am happy to
attend classic cars shows and auto jumbles. Since my move back to Northern Ireland I have had the opportunity to re-discover
the land of my birth, this has been a great learning curve and a fantastic chance to re- acquainted myself again with the province and explore new places I have not seen in Ireland.

My Aims
I now feel I have gained experience in all operational areas of the hotel and industry and I am committed to the guest services industry and I would certainly welcome any new challenges that may arise and look at each opportunity with a chance to gain and develop my own experience and learning. I am seeking a long-term project and I am willing to commit to the right opportunity.
