COVER LETTER.

Dear sir/madam,

Application for the Position of Analyst Trainee Programme Corporate Finance .

I am a recent MSc Investment & Finance graduate of the Middlesex University, London, UK. I am thus looking for an entry-level/Associate position in Investment banking to help launch my career in this field of work. Though I currently lack the work experience in this field, I believe that I am qualified to man the position of Analyst Trainee Programme Corporate Finance with the Duetsche Bank. The prospect of joining your internationally diversified team in the vibrant city of London or Frankfurt greatly appeals to me for I am well aware that my academic background alone cannot even begin to prepare me for the challenges ahead in this field. As such, an Analyst trainee programme as this would go a long way in helping fresh graduates as myself gain the necessary work experience. My MSc education was strongly focused on how to carry out research in the general Investment banking business, modeling of and interpretation of financial data, as well as the valuation of diverse Capital market instruments. My MSc dissertation (see title below) is based on the effects of micro/macro-economic factors on some sampled countries’ reserve level. For this dissertation, as with most MSc dissertations, one’s skills in data compilation, modeling, stating your hypotheses, running the regressions and interpretation of the regressions are thoroughly tested. Thus, one’s research capabilities, financial data analytical prowess and numerical skills are truly tested. I therefore believe that my MSc experience in research and other areas of Investment banking would adequately prepare me for this position of Analyst Trainee Programme Corporate Finance at the Deutsche Bank. The Investment & Finance programme at the Middlesex University with modules as, Financial Theory & Application (covers all the elements of Corporate Finance including all Valuation techniques), Portfolio Analysis and Investment Management (covers all the elements of Portfolio Management), Financial Modeling and Data Analysis (the backbone of the entire programme, covers all the elements of Econometrics, all the other four modules, the dissertation included, are designed to merge with this module) and lastly, International Risk Management (this largely deals with the macro-economic elements of finance), is purely focused on the Investment banking business. During the course of this programme, we were taught how to develop and interpret financial models by gathering the desired data, compiling the data, running the regression and what the ensuing results of the regression mean. In Portfolio management, we were taught what constitutes an optimum portfolio, how to achieve and manage an optimum portfolio. My MSc dissertation topic was focused on the “Effects of the global and or regional financial/bank crises on the reserve level of some 32sampled emerging market countries from 1974-2008”. In this paper, all the

facets (modules) of the MSc programme and especially one’s research capabilities came into play and I was able to draw my conclusion based on the test results of the regressions run. Besides my MSc degree, I also hold a BA degree with a 2.1 score in International Business Management Studies which was strongly focused on finance and accounting. I also have garnered some work experience in the financial sector working in different positions as a financial clerk, junior accountant and as an accountant/financial controller for different firms through the years (see resume). I therefore strongly believe that my academic background would optimally prepare me for the challenging tasks ahead as a Trainee Analyst the Corporate Finance Division at the Deutsche Bank. On a personal level, I am a very dedicated, loyal, hard working, ambitious and strong man, qualities that I hold dear to my heart. As a Dutch national I am entitled to work in all EU countries. I hope to be given the opportunity to present myself and my capabilities in a live interview. With kind regards.
