Employment History
E-testing Consultancy Limited
CONSULTANCY | RESOURCING | OUTSOURCING | TRAINING, Station Road, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Test Consultant June 2010 – November 2010
I am engaged in UAT Test Planning coordination within a client head office in the banking sector. This requires that I manage a small team of dedicated business users. They are engaged in the functional analysis, from the individual flow diagrams and scripting the scenarios within each unique requirement. These are recorded together for inclusion in the test management tool called Spira. It covers all the business lines in the major product areas that will be tested in the new First Vision Product release. This is seen as the next major business improvement for the company going forward.
I have to continually make sure these requirements have an associated full coverage of testcases, which would enable the new First Vision product from First Data to be ready for the execution phase and subsequent delivery to production.
I ensure that all aspects to the proposed execution are well understood and prepared for, so that the available resources can be utilised to greatest effect.

Fortis Bank

Midas Competence Center (MCC) Kanselarij 1, B-1000, Brussels
Belgium
Functional Test Analyst September 2008 – October 2008
The mid office applications at Fortis require a dedicated talented team approach to effectively establish a “Mercury Quality Centre” for the introduction of change requests, which form the backbone of the managed tasks surrounding this environment.
The team, of which I was the testing guru, was investigating the most productive way we could work within the current structure and limitations. The Business Acceptance Testing was based on Fortis European Branch Office Change Requests, which were delivered to head office for evaluation and approval. Small change requests could be managed, but there was not the necessary process controls in place to handle larger projects. This meant that issues like ownership, control, reporting and compliance all need effective management which was urgently being worked on. However before the bank was nationalised I was effectively communicating with all stakeholders and interested parties, from the configuration to the test manager, in order to effectively bring such changes about.
QuadroVision B.V.

Test Manager May 2008 – August 2008
QuadroVision is specialised in building eBusiness systems with a short time to market and is assigned by GlobalCollect to build the Payment Hosting Platform. QuadroVision is supporting GlobalCollect for the Technical Application Management of the Payment Hosting Platform.
I was ensuring that all aspects of the in-house testing were managed and reported correctly as well dealing with all client matters. Here I was managing a small team in Holland doing System Test and System Integration Test, with a couple of additional developers working in Beijing. The BAT and UAT was being carried out by the Client. In this situation I had Dutch colleagues as well as Chinese developers and testers to manage. I set the goals based on the roadmap for the project, ensuring that work was carried out up to standard and offered help and support when required in order to get the very best from the small numbers staff under my control. Naturally English was the language for all communications, even sending necessary e-mails to Beijing and when necessary following this up with a VOIP call.
GlobalCollect will focus on offering its payment services to new customers, in particular e commerce businesses. Moreover, GlobalCollect will constantly expand its product range by adding new methods of payment and extra services. The WebCollect platform, formerly know as the Payment Hosting Platform was realized to handle this business and these services.
Nowadays GlobalCollect is handling over 50 million transactions online.

Senior Test Analyst March 2005 – April 2008
Mid Office BAT Test Analysis projects based on all types of EDIFACT and SWIFT payment/report MT formats which were successfully completed and delivered on time and within budget. Data collection issues involved detailed examination, resolving issues, for example in MA CUG MT101 where associated database entries specific for each customer could not be transported to the test environment. These were handled as Change Requests.
Regression testing of the Payment Router and surrounding Mid Office applications, together with a variety of data input and processing activities. This allows for the final acceptance of related projects that requires thorough checking before being released into production. There is therefore a great deal of planning and inter-project co-operation to ensure for example, the correct cut of production data is used to enable all aspects of the test objectives to be reached.
I was making the necessary investigations into the how to develop the regression test rationale and once worked through, I assigned a small team of test engineers to the task of developing an application that would via Perl script deliver a defined set of results from a day’s worth of depersonalised production data. The project was expanded to then cover the activities of the Status and Report routers.
This provided the final series of test activities on applications that are critical to the banking business activities. This is a high test profile activity which potentially can reject a release based on the quality of the delivery. Test Director used as the application for defect reporting, tracking and integrated software management release.
In this capacity I was the only expat of any nationality working in the Mid Office project area of ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. I was a key team player and provided project based assignments which were duly worked on in close collaboration with peers and colleagues. I had direct contact with application owners and had to overcome difficulties brought about for example, by the lack of a configuration manager within the BAT business area.
Linux re-platforming from HP-UNIX to increase throughput and ensure that future expected volumes can be managed with ease. Testing this functionality required new configurations and reassessment of essential commands to adequately test the different types of payment data.
This impacted the regression testing and subsequently led to script revisions and improved processes for handling the increased data input volumes and channel delivery systems.
Trace Datawise
16 The Heathcoat Building, Nottingham Science & Technology Park
Nottingham November 2004 – December 2004
QA/Testing Manager Specialist in Banking and Financial Services Software.
Testing the initial release of “Instruct”, (Instruction Entry) for State Street Bank Boston. A JAVA based thin-client application from which the company’s flagship product DataWeb was devised.
I tested DataWeb and produced supporting training documentation where the multi-layered, multi-threaded generic work-flow messaging application could be applied to entry, management and delivery of any structured message. The product was delivered with the complete SWIFT message set installed. Again here there was a dedicated small group of users to which I was able to add value to their work by bringing onboard ideas and concepts gained from previous experience.
DataWeb used a browser connection in enabling a host institution to support multiple transaction flows from clients over the Internet. It allowed users to enter, approve, view and repair transactions through a secure VPN connection. The“Proof of Concept” in a Loan’s processing scenarios. The middleware used XML configuration files to enable the appropriate user to process, approve or reject the customer loan application. Again I was developing testing scenarios and full user documentation.

Sr. Analyst/Project Leader March 2004 - August 2004
Triparty Securities Lending STP. (Straight Through Processing) Project.
Integration Test Specification based on the functional design, incorporating the cross platform functionality with feedback mechanism from IBM to Tandem. The concept is based on the current and future business model with respect to a more efficient use of the application for customer requirements.
UAT Testing carried out where the users provided all the evidence as to the way the Train application handled the many and varied GUI data input. There being no available associated up to date documentation. This provided the basis of my regression tests on this application, on which the new suite of Triparty Securities Lending functionality was to be built. I had to effectively communicate with users on an ongoing basis in order to go through the many and varied test scenarios that were required for the regression test phase of this project.
Functional Testing scenarios include validation and error message handling. The context of which depends on the way this application is used compared to other Triparty products, the most common of which is Repo, (Repurchase). This leads on to regression testing, for those conditions where there were no changes to the final results. In other cases for example, the code had been modified for TSL, but its operation in Repo was as before.
All of this was tested in an environment where the functionality was checked against an existing IBM database. Tandem however had to be brought inline and synchronised with a procedure that would be repeated for a successful launch.

It uses the latest Internet technology and forms part of the CreationConnect suite of connectivity products. Using CreationOnline, Clearstream Banking customers can manage their instructions and holdings using a standard web-browser.
Functional analysis carried out to identify necessary new requirements. System Requirements Documentation reviewed and updated to reflect this using Summit methodology. Case Study impact for example, with regard to Customer billing. Then the acceptance criteria are used to design test cases against which new application was tested, followed by cut over.
Previously tested Clearing and Settlement related SWIFT messages according to their respective System Requirements Definition.
Knowledge of the MT564, MT565, MT567, and MT568 messages – contents and generation, from creating the Issue Action Declaration through to running the Mail Processor. Relating the Swift message output to the options or choices offered in the initial set-up, and expecting these to be generated in the correct order in the Outbound MT564 SWIFT message.
Test planning, data preparation, and test execution, associated with the Outbound SWIFT 2001 release. Have also performed data analysis on the Methods for determining which events to test, and updated the Templates for all current events to take into account the above 2001 SWIFT release.
Have also been involved with IPM Message Decoder Test Plan, and the Stargate Notification Test Plan, and initial data preparation. I have also set-up data in preparation for the Inbound SWIFT delivery, and provided documentary updates to the Check Pending functionality. These activities were done in collaboration with other colleagues who have some input into the process, together with HPS and FTI who need to be informed or contacted when a particular problem arose.
I have also been involved in the mapping exercise for the Inbound SWIFT MT564 from the Custodian to the XML tags provided by ACTION SOURCE.
Also within Custody, I have been involved in Functional, Component, and Integration Testing for Clearstream. UNIX, IBM m/f with associated REAL GUI applications, all included as an integrated package with software development from third party vendors. Responsibilities include the development of Test Plans and user guides for the Test Team, from all available sources. Test execution and problem raising - (Quintus), discussing issues before handover to BAT, (Business Assurance testing). Again in a foreign environment, I had to effectively communicate with stakeholders, developers and managers in order to get the very best practice in meeting objectives. I enjoyed being part of a team, for example in the implementation weekend or working exclusively on a particular CR or series of requirements and testcases.
The testing criteria were determined by all contributing factors and the available resources as to the level of testing in the appropriate environment. Re-testing, and reporting of the results to the business by way of various documents, including the installation and operations guide, the cutover document, and test results document. All this delivered in a very professional manner to a tight deadline with limited contingency.
Lifecycle product testing: UAT Batch Test Planning/Execution – Testing using UNIX and PL/SQL. Identify Business processes and check expected results within the environment.
Various EPR’s tested/re-tested to conform to delivery specifications. Regression Testing –

Britannic Assurance PLC, Wythall, Birmingham.
January 1999 – November 1999
Programme Level Testing on a number of different platforms, with various applications in a Windows NT environment, for the purpose of supporting the business in trialling the non-functional aspects of the systems:
Communications, Performance, Volume, Stress, Recovery, Usability, Operations, Environment and Security.
These were linked together via a HUB, which was responsible for keeping the applications in step. UNIX, ORACLE, VME and INFORMIX application/database components were scripted and tested, and re-tested where necessary using a change control management tool called Star Team.
The large CRM project meant for the first time that the Financial Advisors could sell insurance products from their laptop at customer locations. UAT meant making sure for example, that while all functional requirements were met, the usability of the application would indeed be similar to that of the “Fact Find” in the order and presentation of client information.
Further problem solving skills were required on a proactive basis in UAT, talking through problems and issues with development staff where appropriate, through to dealing with data requirements for full functional testing. The UNIX batch system was also extensively tested.
I took a lead in the group activities in producing statics and running required UNIX batches and in general making a valid contribution in seeing the project go forward.
Southern Electric, Bartons Road Havant, Portsmouth. May 1998 - December 1998
Responsible for two UNIX applications (NHHDA and EACAA) required in the Testing and Trialling environments that are crucial to the electricity distribution business. This involved running specific predetermined CIDA witnessed tests to ensure these applications operated to the required specification. This was the BPIT first phase de-regulation testing in the electricity distribution business.
We performed as a full team over a full 24 hr fortnightly shift pattern, to ensure that the necessary testing activities could be completed to the witness’s satisfaction onsite and to the regulators satisfaction off-site. In this environment I ran four unique UNIX partitions on four separate terminals with specific and unique instructions for each one. There were no problems which were not foreseen or could not be dealt with outside the scope of the testing.
Business Assurance testing required additional information, whereby any problems were resolved by raising the appropriate records by use of MAESTRO or INFORMAN application.
UNIX tools were in evidence where necessary. The underlying ORACLE database design being investigated by SQL. Interface testing to HUB and MVS mainframe were also an integral part of the testing requirements.
As a result of completing the above to a rigorous timetable, Southern Electric is now able to enter the open market for the sale of electricity.
