Current Assignment
(2008 – 2010) IBM Chief Architect and Technical Advisor (Multi million dollar contract) working with Danske Bank CTO/CxO levels to develop and set IT Infrastructure Strategy and Technology Roadmaps
As Chief Architect for an IBM $850M IT Outsourcing contract delivered to the Danske Bank customer I work with areas of the bank to develop and set the 5 year IT Infrastructure Strategy which is supported by the maps. Influencing various customer stakeholders to maximise the use of technology and deliver value so that the business vision is achieved. Defined and deployed a Technical Governance model that enabled control and management of technology development, technology innovation and technical currency. This was achieved through the establishment of a Technical Design Authority function that enabled the correct governance to operate between the customer and the IBM stakeholders.

(2005 – 2008) IBM Global Lead IT Transformation Architect for a large IT Transformation Programme (70 plus projects) working with ABN AMRO Bank to ensure a Global IT Transformation was achieved.
ABN AMRO made a strategic decision to outsource their IT Services to IBM. Through IT Service standardisation, consolidation and off shoring the customer expected to gain improvements in Service Quality and cost efficiencies that would enable them to deliver value back to the business. The scope of business units included retail, corporate, investment and private clients banking.
Definition, deployment and management of a Global Technical Governance mechanism, allowing the customer to achieve major project milestones
Leading a large virtual and global team of architects responsible for delivering solutions for the Transformation programme
Ensuring the integrity and viability of technical solutions to meet the needs of the customer and IBM and act as the primary technical interface for the Transformation programme stakeholders
Leading customer requirement definition, solution description and review workshops with multiple stakeholders from the customer and IBM organisations building confidence and trust
Successfully off shored IT services to South Africa, Brazil and Romania.
2003 - 2005: Global Service Delivery Architect for an IT Services Engagement working with ABN AMRO Bank to develop a solution proposal that would enable the customer to realise it’s cost saving and service quality business benefits
IBM had been asked to submit an IT Services proposal that would transform ABN AMRO’s Global IT Services that it provided to all lines of business within the bank. This was a full scope infrastructure transformation including Helpdesk Services, Desktop Computing, Mainframe and Midrange platforms, Security, Storage and Systems Management.
Presented to ABN AMRO CxO and primary stakeholders and led technical workshops that enabled IBM to build confidence with the customer that the Transformation solution was achievable and supported their business objectives
Led a large (20 plus) virtual and global team of solution architects to provide architectures and designs that would be used as the blueprints for the Global Transformation
Provided governance for the solution and ensured that reviews and solution revisions were identified and managed to ensure the viability and integrity of the overall IT Infrastructure solution
Negotiated various elements of the final contract to ensure requirements were met and were achievable.
2002 - 2003: Lead Architect for a Performance & Capacity Management implementation to enable JPMC Investment Bank Rates business area to ensure Application Performance was understood and improved
A business area in the JPMC Investment Bank line of business required a process to be defined and deployed that enabled them to better manage and control the performance of one of their business critical Rates back office applications.
In a consultancy role, provided leadership in the development and deployment of a Performance and Capacity management solution
Primary interface into customer senior stakeholders to understand and agree requirements
Led a team of subject matter experts to deliver a solution that was then used as a template for the rest of the Investment Bank organisation
Jun/2002 - Aug/2003: Lead Architect for Payments Solution (JPMC Payments) to support the JPMC migration to an IP (SWIFT) based payments service
To support the business, JPMC was required to migrate to a new financial payments messaging system that was based on the SWIFT IP payments service.
Lead solution architect working for the JPMC client building a strong working relationship with the client and the other stakeholder groups clarifying business drivers and requirements.
Technical lead, designing, deploying and bringing together the multiple technology platforms (Mainframe, Midrange, Database, Unix System Services, Middleware, AIX, MERVA) and the associated support teams that ensured a successful implementation.
Project completed successfully and the solution was included as a formal IBM customer reference site for IBM WBIFN.
