Experience

The Somerfield Hospital
Maidstone
Admin Assistant / Hotel Services Assistant September 2009 _ Present
Helping out in the HR department as an admin assistant making up new starter packs and filing. I also work in the servery which involves helping the patients with their menu choices, informing the kitchen staff of these choices, making up the trays ready for the meals and taking the meal to the Day Case patient when they are ready to eat. I also clear away the trays after. On a daily basis there is a list of the Day Case patients that are due in the next day and we have to write up the menus ready with their name and room number for the next day. This process also has to be done for the In-Patients. I have to take breakfast, lunch and dinner round to them and clear away. I work well in my team as it is a very demanding job where the Servery has to run very smoothly to maintain the hospital's high standards of care.

Lloyds Bank (now LLoydsTSB)
Central London / Black friars
Senior Section Clerk September 1983 - April 1998
I worked in the bank for 14 years from a school leaver and worked my up to a Senior Section Clerk. I encoded bank giro credits, sorted ``miss sorts'' manually and these where then sorted into sections then branches. I machined them on an adding machine and made sure they agreed with ledgers. I had to agree ledgers and dockets to computer print outs and alter any dockets accordingly. I used micro fiche to search for items that had been processed to branches. There were many different in-house accounts that had to be processed on a daily basis. One of these was called ``The House'' where every day all the banks had to go to The Bank of England and charge and pay each other and they all had to agree. Before I went over to the building I had to make sure all the dockets and ledgers were in order and get them signed by management. I traced lost Bank Giro Credits that were sent as requests in the post by other Lloyd's branches and banks. I would take all the remitting details from the originator and trace the item through our system until traced and then write back to the bank or branch that sent the request. Or if the item had been sent to wrong place I would have to write to them first and have a pending pile which I had to keep up to date and follow up.
Other roles undertaken were when Bank Giro Credits did not have the right branch written on them, maybe just the street name and I had to write on them what they should be, over time I knew what most branch addresses were and this sped up the process because there could be hundreds of these situations. I used to know nearly every single Lloyds bank branch sort code too. As a senior section clerk I helped run which ever section I was on at the time. Making sure everything ran smoothly and any queries were investigated from phoning branches, writing to branches and altering dockets and ledgers. I also phoned /visited the'' computer room'' to check on missing work and make sure everything was running smoothly.
