This one year’s work placement, as part of my degree course, developed my accountancy skills in a commercial environment.
Experienced in using software ‘Assist/AS400’.
Monitored, posted and checked accounts payable invoices.
Took full responsibility of the Accounts Receivable function which involved preparing and posting records on to the system.
Responsible for releasing customer orders for shipment and reviewing any held orders.
Analysed customers’ annual accounts to either approve or disapprove their application for Net 30 Days credit account.
Timely invoiced goods, on a daily basis, and reconciled pre-payments made from customers.
Successfully undertook the role of a ‘Credit Controller’ and reduced the amount of aged debtors to less than half over the course of my one year’s placement.
Controlled ‘dunning processes’ which involved the issuing monthly statements, issuing chase letters and subsequent telephone follow-ups.
Issued Credit and Debit Notes after investigating customer accounts or queries.
Shadowed the Accounts Manager whilst undertaking a bank reconciliation and vice versa.
