Project Description: Dow Jones & Company is a subsidiary of News Corporation. Dow Jones is a leading provider of global business news and information services. The project involved in setting up the environment for the developers and maintaining the database RAC and Provide rotating 24/7 support and administration. Manage and building Dataguard Standby databases, ASM DBs, and Real Application Clusters (RAC) DBs and manage/monitor database Backup/Recovery and Creation/Maintenance of development, system test and production database. Involved in monitoring 45 production/development/test database instances.

Responsibilities:

  • Designed, developed, and managed large complex production databases.
  • Performed installation, up gradation of oracle (9i, 10g, 11g) software in different Environments.
  • Created and maintained oracle development and test databases.
  • Provided technical support of mission critical databases running on Oracle, SQL Server and other database management systems.
  • Installed Oracle 10.2.4 with multi nodes RAC in ASM storage with normal redundancy.
  • Managed CRS Clusterware and ASM.
  • Installed DB Control and OEM control Grid controlī€ .
  • Determined the best RAC and Data guard topologies for your environment.
  • Defined redo log files, undo table spaces in a RAC Environment.
  • Implemented the most common RAC tuning tips.
  • Configured and managed services in a RAC environment.
  • Configured services aggregation and tracing. Manually control the Oracle Cluster ware stack.
  • Performed addition/ backup of voting disk and cluster registry (OCR).
  • Added new nodes to the RAC database.
  • Worked with the Recovery Manager RMAN and OEM in backup/ recovering of the RAC database.
  • Created Standby databases for Disaster.
  • Used Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) & Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM) in RAC for Performance Tuning.
  • Ensured security of the database by creating profiles and monitoring user sessions.
  • Interacted with Development Team in fine tuning the SQL and PL/SQL code.
  • Resolved the database issues of the users whenever in need of.
  • Migrated databases from Sun Solaris to Windows using RMAN CONVERT option.
  • Developed UNIX Shell and Perl Scripts to monitor and automate jobs.
