2001 Freelance Employment
Current Employment
TMH Telemedia Services; Graphic Designer I am currently the graphic designer of a international media company, TMH Telemedia Services. I have been employed in this role since April 2009. The fundamental focus of my role is to produce the bimonthly magazine, TV4Life. As well at this printed publication, the company also specialises in outdoor, press, TV and radio advertising space. I have complete responsibility in the creation of this magazine, which includes assembling the full layout around the copy and any images supplied. As the only designer in the team, I manage the process from conception through to print, requiring me to take on the roles of type setting, preflight and packaging. Advertisement creation is another key aspect of my role, predominately within the magazine, but also via the other commercial mediums previously described. This requires me to work on different predefined space settings, from classified adverts right through to 96 sheet billboards.

Concept design is also part of my job specification. I have created corporate identities, book covers, stationery, web site layouts, leaflets, brochures, branding, mail outs, mail-blasts and banners. This variety of work has provided me with a valuable understanding of the use of colours, type and layout to suit the intended audience. As a experienced user of the full Adobe suite, I am extremely competent in the use of the programs Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I am also competent using Dreamweaver and QuarkExpress. In addition I have a good understanding of using the basic Microsoft package. This role has given me the experience of working independently but also with a team. As we are an international company, with offices in the UK, Europe, Africa and America, I have become aware of the need to differentiate our offer to suit the various cultures for whom we work. This has also made me aware of the need to be flexible in my working hours, in order to meet the demands of working across different international time zones. The experience of working at TMH has boosted my confidence and given me a good grounding in applying skills as a designer; enabling me to take what I have learnt and apply it in professional practice. Industry Experience W3 Design; Before starting at TMH Telemedia, I did some work for W3Design, gaining essential industry experience, working on projects for some of the biggest brand names in the world such as Tate and Lyle, Robinsons, Dissarono and some smaller local companies. The opportunity to work in the industry gave me very valuable experience and knowledge about working as part of a team but also gave me the confidence to work on my own. I really enjoy keeping fit and I am a keen golfer but I will play any sport offered to me. Recently I have started to partake in slightly more extreme sports such as rock climbing and power kiting. I have just completed a half marathon in Southend and I am hoping to gain entry into the 2011 London Marathon. I traveled and worked my way around Australia for 6 months between A levels and university. This experience gave me the chance to really explore and experience life outside of the UK.
