My Personality Profile
Thank you for completing the questionnaire. You will see your scores below, along with some written feedback.
Your scores are expressed in STEN (standard ten) scores, which reflect the normal distribution of the personality factors throughout the general population.
The average scores for the general population are scores of 5 or 6 and these scores are achieved by approximately 38% of people. Scores of 4 or 7 are achieved by a further 30%, scores of 3 and 8 by 18 %, scores of 2 and 9 by 9% and scores of 1 and 10 by approximately 5%.
Although scores are described in the text as 'high' or 'low' there are no right or wrong score directions and these labels are used for purely descriptive purposes. The brief summary below gives the factors, your scores and some indication of what your scores mean.
Agreeableness
Your score of 6 on the Agreeableness scale is average. It indicates that you are able to blend logic and intuition in fairly equal measure. Most people would view you as caring and concerned for their welfare, so you would generally be seen as quite helpful when dealing with customers or members of your team. This means that you would seek common ground with your colleagues and would view good team relations as important. As a result, you would be a very good and supportive team member who tried to reconcile personal considerations with work objectives. Thus, you would be suited to an environment where good relationships are as important as the ability to get the job done.
Conscientiousness
You have scored 7 on the Conscientious scale. This means that you would probably be a relatively well organised and structured worker who valued tidiness and order. You would expect other people to be committed to good standards and work practices, ranging from punctuality to following procedures correctly. You could probably be very meticulous if the need arose, and you would be able to work through detailed tasks in a methodical and structured way. This suggests that you would be suitable for any role that required you to closely monitor information or work consistently.
Conformity
You achieved a score of 2 on the Conformity scale and this is a low score indicating that you are probably a fairly unorthodox individual and probably like to see yourself as something of a non-conformist. You probably don't pay much too attention to those conventions that you find to be restrictive so many of the people who work for the company and customers could sometimes find you to be a little too informal in your manner. You are probably quite an original and creative thinker who likes being able to develop new ideas. You are likely to have an enquiring mind that tries to understand and comprehend most things. Given the chance, you are likely to try to introduce new working methods into your job, even if they're not your own ideas. Therefore, you would be suitable for most creative or developmentalpositions, but might find that a role outside these areas did not allow you to implement some of your own ideas.
Extroversion
Your Extroversion scale score of 7 is above average and indicates that you are likely to be a friendly and gregarious person who would settle into any new social environment quite quickly. You probably enjoy having a wide range of social relationships and would probably want a job that offered you the chance for plenty of interpersonal contact with colleagues and customers.
You're probably quite open, with a fairly persuasive way of expressing yourself. Because you're likely to be quite convincing in your manner and well suited to roles requiring good social skills you would be likely to enjoy most jobs which required you to deal with other people. You're probably quite a competitive person who would respond positively to most challenges. Because public recognition would matter a great deal to you, you would probably want regular acknowledgements of your achievements.
Emotional Stability
You scored 9 on the Emotional Stability scale. It suggests that you are probably quite an assured individual who is fairly optimistic and positive in your outlook. When dealing with customers or work colleagues you are probably able to express your views with a confident authority. What's more, you are probably able to readily assert yourself when you think it's necessary to do so.
You're probably quite ambitious and would approach your job with enthusiasm, enjoying any role that placed you in a position of responsibility. You would probably be very decisive when faced with difficulties and generally would find it easy to make your own decisions quite quickly. In all likelihood you can cope fairly well with job associated stress. Indeed, you would probably work at your best if you were slightly pressurised.
SUMMARY
I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Engineering from Manchester University (Owens) following a full 4 year indentured apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship was spent in component manufacture using machine tools and in vehicle assembly, of Electro-Mechanical and Diesel Hydraulic equipment and 2 years in the Design Office as a Draughtsman.
My ability to express my ideas in Engineering Drawings (orthographic) clearly demonstrates my familiarity with the use of CAD systems. I have recently re-certified my skills with AutoCAD 2011 and I am planning to complete a course in Autodesk Inventor (3D) in the near future.
I have a long track record of designing products and systems in manufacturing industry and in particular, Mechanical Handling Equipment, Chemical Plant and Power Generation Systems.
I can demonstrate my ability to influence Design from base principles and have successfully introduced new and innovative designs into Product areas, which are noted for their conservative nature.
I have a sound background of practical engineering solutions, with logical analysis of production problems and field failure.
Using past experience and technical knowledge to find solutions, I have produced test rigs to verify suitability of my designs. With the objective of reducing manufacturing costs on complex Electro-Mechanical systems and High-pressure Hydraulic designs; and with the involvement of a multi-disciplinary team (including other NEI Group Company’s personnel), savings in the order of 100,000+ were made.
As Senior Engineer I have been required to recruit and lead a team of engineers. Building the team, office facilities and the necessary Standards and Procedures from scratch.
Integrating the Design Dept. into a planned £100 million manufacturing unit, I also managed the adoption of ISO 9001 Design Standards. It was important to recognize the varied perspectives throughout the organization and the requirements of key suppliers and customers.
I have until recently been involved in Sales and Sales Management/Training. It has been a great challenge and unqualified success in achieving my aims to broaden my perspective of the commercial pressures and client focus needed to succeed in modern enterprise.
