• Responsible for significant rationalisation of Crypto Assets. Directly responsible for the personal supervision and development of the Custodian Team. Excellent leadership skills resulting in outstanding External Audit reports. 
• Successfully planned and enthusiastically managed a major programme to re-image 500+ IT workstations. Supervised the rebuild of the Falkland Island’s Military welfare Internet system, minimising downtime and the affect on deployed personnel. 
• Fostered excellent working relationships between disparate elements of an engineering organisation thereby creating a Unit identity. This provided personnel with a sense of unity that saw pride and morale improve. 
• Production of an organisation’s Quality Management System. Production of the organisation’s Management Plan that was adopted as best practice throughout RAF’s Strike Command. 
• Acted as Manager, C4I Engineering Flight during the prolonged illness of the Manager for a period of 8 months. Responsible for drawing together and developing effective communication between disparate elements of the Flight: Ground Radio Maintenance Section, Telephone Exchange, Communication’s Centre and Photography Section. 
 
Previous Assignments & Experience 
 
May 2005 –Apr 08, and Aug 08 to Jun 10. Custodian of Cryptographic material. Directly responsible to the Head of Establishment for the receipt, safe storage and whole life accounting of Cryptographic material. Ensured that the national requirements for the secure storage, handling and availability of cryptographic items are meticulously applied in accordance with BMD/0001/0001 (Defence Cryptosecurity Operating Instructions) and JSP 440 (The Defence Manual of Security). Providing supervision, direction and guidance to Custodian Team and Custodian at a remote location and to 60+ crypto Customers. Daily, weekly, monthly issue of Cryptographic key material. The timely destruction of superseded Cryptographic key material. Act as principal adviser on all aspects of Crypto security and the methods necessary to provide the correct level of protection relevant to their cryptographic holdings. Carry out regular musters/stock takes of Cryptographic Stores. Upkeep of Cryptographic registers. Provide 24/7 on call support on a rota basis. Development of Standard Operating Procedures. Provide supervision and On the Job Training to 3 Alternates and 1 AssistantCustodian. Crypto Net Controller for 69 crypto covered systems. DV clearance held May 05 to June 10. 
 
(See dates above) Apr 08 – Aug 08 Officer Commanding Operations Flight, Joint Communications Unit Falkland Islands. Responsible for all IT, messaging, ground radio and tactical communications for British Forces South Atlantic. This includes the day-to-day management of over 40 tri-service personnel, prioritising their workload, reporting on operational performance and ensuring that they remain focused on capability delivery. Responsible for IT asset tracking throughout East and West Falkland Islands. Management of technical workshops for equipment maintenance. Management of medium size engineering projects. 
 
June 04 – May 05 Unit Warrant Officer, RAF Information Systems Support Unit. Senior trade specialist responsible for managing change and maintaining engineering principles, practices, Quality Auditing, Health and Safety, effective communication, and morale throughout the organisation. Welfare responsibility of 284 individuals. 
 
July 02 - June 04 Officer Commanding Engineering Headquarters Flight, RAF Information Systems Support Unit. Ensured that engineering principles and practices were maintained within an engineering organisation of 284 personnel, to ensure KPI’s were met, to identify and coordinate all staff training and development requirements. Coordinate the calibration of electrical test equipment used throughout the RAF ISSU. 
Manage the development and implementation of the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS). Management of small projects including the production of the organisation’s Top Level Management Plan. Health and Safety advisor/officer. Supervision of Headquarters engineering team and Quality Auditors. 
 
From Nov 00 - July 02 Integrated Logistic Support Consultant, Integrated Project Team. Responsible for providing specialist engineering advice to the ILS Manager. Research complex logistics support issues and report, either written or orally, complete with any recommendations for change. 
 
Sep 94 – Nov 00 Ranging Officer of Detail Part Spares. Project Team Leader for the production of Initial Provisioning documents for consumable Spares and production of Equipment Illustrated Parts Catalogues to support Communications Systems in accordance with official policy statements. Chairman at consumable spares ranging meetings. Represent RAF at regular Post Design Service meetings with external industry. 
 
Nov 72 - Sep 94 RAF Airfield Engineering Technician. RAF apprenticeship and technician service/shift supervisor employed on the maintenance of airfield navigational aids, with specialist training on precision approach and surveillance radars, instrument landing systems, navigational beacons and voice communications systems. Installation and testing of communications systems in a supervisory role. Local Quality Advisor. Responsible for the management of technical workshops to carry out planned preventive and corrective maintenance and to minimise equipment downtime. Maintenance of forward Store holdings. The day to day management of repairable technical equipment inventories. Coordinate calibration of electrical test equipment.
