Personal Statement
I have recently left my previous job as a clinical relations executive for a neuroscience company due to office relocation. I had worked in this position for seven months and undertaken an active role in patient recruitment and analysing suitable methods in which to advertise and promote the current research being undertaken by our company. During this role I gained experience in dealing with a wide variety of people, showing empathy when dealing with patients on the phone suffering from neurological disorders and offering advice and support. Another aspect of my role was to provide statistical analysis of patient recruitment data for the pharmaceutical companies who sponsored our research. The role also involved travelling throughout the North West meeting with doctors and practice managers at surgeries to promote our company and the services we provided.
Before working with MAC UK I had studied full time at Lancaster University to gain a 2:2 degree in biological science with biomedicine. I am looking to build a career for myself and develop new skills in the workplace. I am confident when speaking to people, and have illustrated this through work I have done with different forms of media for example a few weeks ago I was involved with BBC Radio 4 Saturday Live for an interview to discuss my experiences of having my daughter whilst studying.
I have completed a media training course whilst working with MTV three years ago, as well as GCP training at my previous position. During my degree I also took part in the Student Associate Scheme which enabled me to observe and teach secondary school science, which then lead me to begin volunteering for a short while with Hig furlong School football group based at Beacon Hill High School.
During my degree I completed Biomedical Science modules which required extensive laboratory work, I am competant with many laboratory techniques and testing mechanisms and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team within the lab environment. I find such work interesting, and feel I am capable of carrying out such techniques accurately and to tight deadlines.
As Part of my dissertation subject I worked at Garstang High School alongside the science department to support lessons and eventually taught a full lesson independently under observation.
