Looking for a challenging position of the Civil Engineering Technician Resume the reputed University with a view to use my wide experience for the benefit of the organization.
I am an experienced qualified HNC Mechanical Engineer with a solid background in engineering drawing, principally using AutoCAD to produce mechanical, electrical, civil & building drawings & designs. I have additional experience in Drawing & Drawing Office Management using database software linked to AutoCAD. I also have experience in Project Management and Database Development using Microsoft Projects, Lotus Notes and a range of spreadsheets, databases and word processing packages including MS Office and Lotus Smart Suite. I also have a detailed knowledge of AutoCAD including training others.

My main qualifications are in Mechanical Engineering but I have extensive experience of working in Building Services,Civil Engineering and related disciplines. I also have substantial experience managing a diverse range of projects and of training others in AutoCAD and drawing management software.

Career History: 
2010 to Present: Contract CAD Technician, Since June 2010 I have been working as a CAD Technician at the BG Group head office for Mace Macro. Work includes using AutoCAD to transfer as built mechanical, electrical and building services data from existing contractor's drawings into a main drawing for use within a CAFM database (Facilities Centre). My work also updating the database room area and asset management information. 2006 to 2010: Senior CADTechnician, Halcrow Group Ltd, Reading. With Halcrow I provided CAD support for their projects and clients including Thames Water, Scottish Water, Wessex Water, Dubai Creek, YAS Island, Jazan Economic City, Melittah offshore terminal Libya and SELCHP Energy Recovery Facility. Day to day duties included producing and managing drawings of planning notices, long sections, site layouts, location plans, general arrangements and detail construction drawings for waste water and surface water systems, pumping stations, tanks, manholes, air valve and washout chambers. I also provided CAD support on other Halcrow projects including surface water drainage pipework layouts and details for YAS Island F1 complex in Abu Dhabi, rising main and pumping station layouts and details for the Dubai Creek project, AFFF and sea water fire fighting pipework layouts, details and general arrangements and drawings of breakwaters, jetties, quay walls, roads infrastructure, utilities, services and port buildings for the Jazan Economic City in Saudi Arabia and cooling water pipework layouts, details and general arrangements for SELCHP Energy Recovery Facility in South East London. I also provided on job training in AutoCAD to Engineers and CAD Trainees. 1997 to 2006: Senior CAD Engineer, Abbott Diabetes Care, Abingdon. I managed a small CAD section with up to three staff. Working with the Facilities Department we control over 14,000 drawings ranging from existing Building & Plant Layouts to proposed new factory expansions. I produce drawings for all new buildings including office, laboratories, workshops, manufacturing & storage areas and external areas and roads. I assist the other Facilities Engineers with all aspect of planning and instigating building changes. I closely liaise with the Health & Safety Section and assist them with Building Regulations including Fire Protection and Local Authority planning. I produce drawings, plans and databases for all other Engineers in the department. I also assist other CAD users with on job training in AutoCAD and drawing management software. I am conversant with the FDA regulations and my duties include maintaining a system of drawing control that conforms to all regulation in the Medical Industry. I also was responsible for the development of a Helpdesk/work flow database using Lotus Notes working with the MIS Department and the Lotus Notes developer to develop the tracking and notification system for Facilities projects and general day to day work. My main achievement there was that I introduced drawing management systems and procedures to control all drawings in line with FDA regulations, in particular the drawings that show the production areas within the facility. 1989 to 1997: Engineer, Planning Section, National Power, Didcot `A' Power Station, Initially as a draughtsman I progressed in to running the Drawing Office. This included the day to day running of the drawing office and production of drawings, sketches and layouts, running contracts for off site machining and outside drawing work and assisting the planning engineers in the production of drawings and plans for weekend and longer term plant outages. Additionally I carried out safety checks around parts of the plant to identify any defects or hazards that need to be rectified. My main achievement was following a fatal accident I designed a securing device that was used to retain the low pressure cylinder diaphragms in position within the turbine housing during maintenance. My design was used at Didcot and other Power Stations within National Power and I was nominated for a design award for the device.

1985 to 1989: Workshop Supervisor, Engineering draughtsman, Sterling Greengate Cable Co, Ltd,. Employed as a draughtsman with responsibility for the day to day running of the maintenance drawing office. My duties included the training of trainee draughtsmen and apprentices and the production of drawings and plant layouts of cable manufacturing machinery. Later I progressed to the Workshop Supervisor, responsible for the issue and control of work to three machinists and five fitters. My responsibilities also included the drawing office and produce any drawings that were required. My main achievement was designing a mechanical drive mechanism to replace servo drive on cable braiding machines. Early Career. On leaving school in 1967 I secured a five-year Engineering Apprenticeship with Plenty & Son fluid handling engineers. As part of my apprenticeship I completed a First Year Certificate in Engineering Crafts and gained a First Class Pass. From 1971 to 1978 I worked at Process Periphererals Limited as a Technician and progressed to Draughtsman, I was responsible for production and maintenance of tools and fixtures used in the production of rugged disk memories. Later as a Draughtsman I produced arrangements and detail mechanical and also some electrical drawings. In 1978 I moving on to AND Engineering as an Engineering Draughtsman where I was responsible for producing designs and detailed drawings, estimating, costing and processing orders for a range of special valve actuators. From 1979 to 1985 I worked as a Senior Draughtsman with Reed Paper and Board (UK) Limited at Colthrop Board Mills. My work included production of all pipe work, detail and plant layout drawings plus flow calculations for major project work and general drawing work required to maintain the three board machines on site. My work also included access platform and safety guard design plus some civil work. Qualifications. Reading College of Technology: HNC in Engineering.
