Career objective 
Looking for a challenging position of the  Assistant Vice President Resume 2 the reputed University with a view to use my wide experience for the benefit of the organization.
I am self motivated and a focussed person who enjoys new challenges and am an enthusiastic learner. Through campaigning and my time as Vice President I have developed excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and have the ability to present comfortably to large or executive audiences. I have strong prioritisation and time management skills with particular focus on meeting deadlines. The Vice President role has given me a firm grounding in the marketing and project management of large events and networking, I’d see myself as creative and enthusiastic person with strong and effective communication skills.

Relevant Modules Studied:
Marketing Communications Project – Took part in The Scottish Sun Student Project 2010. Worked as part of a team to implement strategies to gain sign ups to a new website and create promotional ideas for The Scottish Sun. This included a large use social media to promote the project.
Strategic Marketing Management – Produced a report on the current and possible marketing of Harris Tweed.
Advertising & Marketing Communications – Produced a report on the current and possible marketing of Lucozade.
Marketing Planning - Produced a report on Herbal Essences looking at marketing characteristics, consumer usage, consumer attitudes, product pricing, new activity in the market and recommended required changes to these.
Services Marketing - Looked at Musselburgh Racecourse and ascertained ways to market this to a different market segment.
 
Honours Dissertation - Researched the ways in which different ages of women feel that youth is portrayed in the media and advertising, focussing on the cosmetic industry.

Current Role
June 2010 – Current Student Vice President
Queen Margaret University Students’ Union,   
After campaigning for one week, I was elected to be the QMU Students’ Union Vice President. During my term, I am working closely with the President and other members of the Union to achieve our goals. 
In general, my role involves, 
- Effectively communicating with, and the representation of, the 5000 students at the University. Myself and the Presidenthave responsibility for effectively publicising the activities and services of the Students’ Union and for generating and auditing feedback from students in order to inform the decision making processes and development of the Students’ Union and the University. 
- I work in conjunction with the officers and staff in order to plan and promote the entertainment, trading and fundraising activities. I have overall responsibility for student activities and for all aspects of communication with our membership this includes extensive use of social networking, online videos, the university radio and newspaper. A large section of my remit is the coordination, development and funding of the Students’ Unions clubs and societies. 
- Alongside another member of staff I have responsibility for the project management of the large scale events held by the Union in other venues across which has given me a wide variety good working relationships with a number of people and businesses. 
- I am also required to serve on a number of University Committees, Court and Senate. 
- I have had the opportunity to attend an Active Political Leadership Training Programme, which was ran by NUS. This allowed me to improve my problem solving, negotiating, influencing and public speaking skills. 
- To date, I have successfully campaigned to secure a Wednesday afternoons leave from class for sports teams in order from them to represent the University in the Scottish University Sporting Leagues.
 
Marketing Experience
Sept 2008-March 2009 Promotions Staff
Shanghai Nightclub, 
Whilst promoting the club during the night I had to sell the ‘idea of the night out’ and giving out door passes on the street. Part of the job also entailed having to stand on the door and encourage people to sign up to the Shanghai promotional text service.
 
July 2008-Aug 2009 Marketing Intern
The National Theatre, London
During this Work experience placement, I assisted with the development of online marketing, the collection of audience research and demographic studies. I made presentations to the marketing department on my online marketing and audience research findings.
 
Nov 2005 – Dec 2005 Work Placement
Burt Greener Communications, Glasgow
While carrying out work experience at this public relations consultancy, I assisted with the cataloguing of press cuttings and wrote press releases for band promotion. I also assisted at the IKEA launch event. 
 
Hospitality Experience
My time working within the hospitality industry has helped me to develop my team work and customer service skills. I have often worked in extremely busy environments and have learnt how to handle myself in a timely and productive manner in a stressful atmosphere. My time as a supervisor also gave me an insight into managing other staff members. During my time in the hospitality sector I have completed a food health and safety and hygiene training course, a course on the new licensing laws and Mitchells and Butlers ‘Stepping Stones’ legal work book, which includes fire safety, customer serviceand security training.
